Terms of Use

Last updated: March 2026

By using LabGate ("the Software"), you agree to the following terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Software.

1. Nature of the Software

LabGate is a policy-enforcement layer that runs AI coding agents inside container-based sandboxes. It relies on third-party container runtime (Apptainer) and third-party AI services (such as Anthropic's Claude and OpenAI's Codex). LabGate does not control, operate, or warrant these third-party services.

2. License and Acceptable Use

Subject to these terms, you are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Software for personal, research, and internal evaluation purposes. Commercial or enterprise use may require a separate written agreement.

You may not: (a) use the Software for unlawful purposes; (b) attempt to bypass or disable security controls; (c) remove or obscure proprietary notices; or (d) provide the Software as a hosted service or resale offering without prior written permission.

3. No Warranty

The Software is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

In particular, LabGate does not warrant that:

4. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall the authors, contributors, or copyright holders of LabGate be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, including but not limited to:

This limitation applies regardless of the theory of liability (contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or otherwise), even if the authors have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

5. User Responsibility

You are solely responsible for:

6. Security Disclaimer

Container-based sandboxing provides a layer of isolation but is not a security guarantee. Container escape vulnerabilities, misconfiguration, or bugs in the underlying runtime can compromise isolation. LabGate is designed to reduce risk, not eliminate it. You should not rely on LabGate as your sole security measure. Always apply defense in depth and follow your institution's security policies.

7. AI-Generated Content

AI agents running inside LabGate sandboxes may generate code, text, or other content. This content is generated by third-party AI models, not by LabGate. LabGate makes no representations about the accuracy, safety, legality, or intellectual property status of AI-generated content. You assume all responsibility for reviewing and using such content.

8. Data Collection

The LabGate CLI does not transmit telemetry or usage data by default. If you choose to submit feedback using the CLI (via labgate feedback), your feedback may be sent to the LabGate feedback endpoint (for example, labgate.dev), unless you override the endpoint or disable sending (e.g. LABGATE_FEEDBACK_DISABLE=1). If delivery fails, feedback is stored locally on your machine. Audit logs are stored locally. The LabGate website uses Vercel Web Analytics to measure anonymized page traffic without third-party cookies. We also process information you send us directly by email or similar contact channels in order to respond. For more detail, see the Privacy Policy.

9. High-Risk Activities

The Software is not intended for use in high-risk or safety-critical environments where failure could lead to death, personal injury, or severe physical or environmental damage. You are solely responsible for ensuring the Software is suitable for your intended use.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access to any hosted services, enterprise features, or support channels if you violate these terms or misuse the Software. You may stop using the Software at any time.

11. Export Controls

You agree to comply with all applicable export control and sanctions laws. You represent that you are not located in, or a resident of, any country subject to embargoes or sanctions that would prohibit your use of the Software.

12. Enterprise Agreements

Enterprise customers may have separate written agreements that supersede these terms. In the event of a conflict between these Terms of Use and a separate enterprise agreement, the enterprise agreement shall prevail.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the Software after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. We recommend checking this page periodically.

14. Governing Law

These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which the provider's principal place of business is located, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes arising from these terms or the use of the Software shall be resolved in the courts located in that jurisdiction.

15. Severability

If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
